As a member of the Executive Leadership Team, the Chief Risk Officer provides leadership, vision and direction for Enterprise Risk Management and compliance activities to support the credit union’s short and long-term strategic goals. Leads, develops, and grows a team of risk management/compliance experts in the following areas: regulatory management, vendor management, legal affairs, member communications, BSA/AML, fraud and loss mitigation, security, and quality control.


• B.A. or B.S. Degree plus a minimum of 7 – 10 years of related experience.
• Knowledge of financial institution (bank or credit union) rules, regulations, and procedures with previous experience in the areas of enterprise risk management, internal audit and/or compliance preferred.
• Certifications in either Certified Risk Management Professional (CRMP) or Certified Enterprise Risk Professional (CERP) preferred.
• Prior supervisory experience, with the proven ability to motivate, develop and to work in a team environment; must be diligent in getting the most out of people and have a strong ability to develop, monitor, and enforce goals.
• Prior computer system/word processing experience; Microsoft office (Word and Excel) experience preferred.
• Aptitude for working at a highly confidential, organized, and responsible level, and a willingness to work flexible hours are highly desirable, plus the ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines.
• Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with others, including exhibiting a courteous, conscientious, and generally businesslike manner in the workplace; and
• Ability to make recommendations and/or effectively resolve problems or issues by using judgment that is consistent with credit union standards, practices, policies, and procedures, and all applicable regulations and government laws.
