As a member of the Executive Leadership Team, the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) will provide leadership, strategic vision and business management to drive overall outcomes to achieve growth and success of the credit union.

• Oversees all operations of the credit union as assigned by the CEO. Resolves and/or delegates the day-to-day issues associated with the assigned operation of the credit union; effectively handles member complaints and problems as needed.

• Supervises and conducts all performance evaluations on assigned management/staff. Ensures employees have proper training and other resources to perform their jobs. Creates and maintains a high-quality work environment where staff are motivated to perform at their highest levels.

• Develops credibility by acting as a role model, providing leadership, and coaching staff toward appropriate behavior and job performance. Provides counsel, training, and education to Managers. Provides Leadership for all departments by motivating, praising, and recognizing staff.

• Maintains, updates, and analyzes the Credit Union’s Asset Liability model. Prepares all required Asset Liability and other financial reports, leads the financial discussion at the Asset Liability Committee (ALCO) meetings and makes recommendations to the Committee. Keeps all model assumptions current and documented.

• Actively leads or participates in all applicable assigned Committees. Oversees the Asset Liability Committee and regularly makes pricing recommendations.

• Responsible for the annual budgeting process. Works with department heads to provide direction and coordination as well as monthly budget review. Assists in the development and implementation of a cost accounting system that includes branch budgeting as well as product profitability analysis.

• Regularly creates and submits reports on: Allowance for Loan Loss adequacy, cash flow status, ALM reports, and monthly board reports.

• Performs research, and makes recommendations for Credit Union Investment portfolio purchases, sales, and swaps. Regularly communicates and consults with credit union approved investment firms. Communicates and coordinates with CEO / President for approvals.

• Reviews and develops strategic plans in relationship to the overall goals of the credit union; ensures that strategic plans and projects are effectively carried out by subordinates.

• Maintains an active role within the communities that Sunmark represents, attending important community events. Participates in political action and local credit union affairs.

• Cross trains to learn all functions performed by the President/CEO, for purposes of succession. Ensures that all departments provide a working succession plan for their respective areas.

• Assists in the development and promotion of the credit union’s stretch and other goals to the staff.

• Responsible and/or delegates the credit union’s investment portfolio and cash flow functions.

• Works with all credit union vendors in obtaining valued services at a reasonable price.

• Works closely and takes the lead when communicating with the internal, independent and NCUA examiners relating to all areas within the accounting/finance department. Responsible for clearing related audit findings and exceptions and providing updated reports to the President/CEO.


Seeking candidates with a college degree BA/MBA with an Accounting/Finance focus and 8-10 year’s experience within financial management, having knowledge of Asset Liability Management and permissible investments. Proven ability to manage a team, strong written/verbal communication skills and computer proficiency within MS Office especially within Excel. Aptitude for working at a highly confidential level and meet deadlines.
