Accounting Manager

Duties:

Oversee, train and evaluate junior accounting and accounts payable staff; manages performance and core competency evaluation process within area of responsibility.

Communicate with employees to assure positive and clear understanding of credit union goals and direction.

Oversee accounting department; general ledger and reconciliations, accounts payable, expense reimbursement, compliance to generally accepted accounted principles, related regulations and credit union policies and procedures.

Develop, recommend and maintain accounting policies, procedures and internal financial controls.

Maintain and reconcile investor accounting for loan sales and participations.

Maintain accurate records on all credit union assets, liabilities, income, and expenses.

Prepare audit documentation and assist internal and external auditors with requests.

Assist as back up to EOM/EOQ processes.

Assist in establishing and implementing credit union goals and objectives.

Prepare, implement and supervise department budget within area of responsibility to assure adherence.

Cross sell credit union products and services, as appropriate.

Meet Core Competency requirements.

Performs additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Education/Certification: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting preferred plus five to seven years experience in the management of an accounting department; or a comparable combination of education and experience.

Required Knowledge: Thorough knowledge of accounting principles.

Experience Required: Experience using P.C. based accounting software,

Intermediate to advanced level Microsoft Excel/Word, Adobe Acrobat, SQL database

Skills/Abilities: Ability to project a professional appearance and positive attitude at all times. Excellent project management, leadership, written and verbal communication and analytical skills.
