Under general supervision, but in line with established policies and procedures performs a variety of accounting and clerical duties within the department. Receives sorts and proofs accounting documents, posts to the general ledger, reviews internal records and reconciles accounts. Perform tasks necessary to balance and update general ledger accounts and subsidiary accounts, maintain and reconcile daily cash accounts and manage other accounting-related duties. Prepare various accounting reports as required.
|Duties and Responsibilities:|
Perform daily and month end reconciliation of corporate accounts and make any necessary adjustments. Reconciliation includes, but is not limited to, check deposits, ACH transactions, credit card transactions and clearing of corporate drafts.
Make any recommendations to management on transferring funds as they relate to the credit union's financial position and monitors daily liquidity needs to assure appropriate funds are available or properly invested.
Prepare, pay, and file all accounts payable for the credit union and research and resolve discrepancies.
Post and reconcile the subsidiary records for the accrued income from investment accounts, mortgage service providers and payments received from outside collection agencies.
Post monthly general ledger entries including, but not limited to, recurring journal entries, Visa payments and adjustments, money orders and traveler's checks, reconcile general ledger accounts and report any discrepancies or problems to the department manager.
Review and analyze financial and non-financial data. Generate a variety of reports and statements as requested by management and assist in the preparation of financial statements and reports on a regular basis.
Monitor Dormant Accounts including follow up with member and remittance to the State.
Assist in the preparation of annual supervisory and regulatory audits.
Responsible for the ongoing third party relationship due diligence program.
Keep current on matters relative to credit union investment policies and strategies.
|Skills, Abilities and Qualities|
Friendly, accurate, detail oriented, knowledgeable, hardworking, honest and dependable.
Bachelors Degree in finance or accounting or three to five years of job related experience, good math skills, familiar with accounting related software and a general knowledge of basic accounting principles.
Credit Union experience preferred.
